Develops, designs, verifies, and documents ASIC development. Determines architecture design, logic design, and system simulation. Develops firmware for embedded applications. Assignments include the analysis of all aspects from high-level design to synthesis, place and route, timing and power utilization and low level firmware function development. Typically uses equipment to establish operation data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results.
Details
Position requires a BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering. Helpful experience and knowledge: VLSI design, ASIC design, Synopsys EDA tools, MentorGraphics EDA tools and VHDL, Verilog, C/C++, Labview, Perl scripting language or equivalent. The engineer should be familiar with typical electrical laboratory equipment such as digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and pattern generators. The position also requires a good understanding of computer hardware, file servers, networks and database management.
The position will consist of working in four main areas:
1) Design of image processing, motor control, processor and memory interface, communication and other hardware assist functions for SOC ASICs.
2) Test of image processing, motor control, processor and memory interface, communication and other hardware assist functions for SOC ASICs. This includes modeling of functions utilizing C/C++ language and scripting skills.
3) Documentation of hardware assist functions for both design and test specification. This includes analysis and characterization of fabricated ASICs upon design completion.
4) Implementation of low level firmware to interface with ASIC hardware assist.
